Troubleshooting
My save is not found
- Check you linked the right folder: Linking your emulator.
- Make sure the game has been saved in game at least once. A save state alone is not a save.
- Settings > Misc > Rescan games.
- Settings > Misc > Scan report lists every file PKForge looked at and why it was accepted or rejected.
My edits do not show up in the game
The usual causes:

| The emulator was open while you edited | Close it completely before editing; it rewrites the save from memory when it closes. |
| A save state was loaded | Boot the game normally and load the in-game save. In RetroArch, turn off Auto Load State. |
| You edited an exported copy | Import the edited file back into the emulator (Pizza Boy, Dolphin exports). |
| The wrong save was linked | Several copies of a save can exist; check the path on the cartridge (B > Edit game). |
"Save could not open"
The file is not a save PKForge can read, or it is damaged. PKForge keeps your previous save open. A whole GameCube memory card gives specific instructions: see Dolphin.
"Write refused … the original was not touched"
A safety check stopped the write (see write safety). Nothing was changed. The message says which check failed. A typical case is a ROM hack save opened read-only.
Something went wrong after a write
Open the save, then Y > Restore points and restore the entry from before the change. See Restoring.
Sprites look basic or are missing
Install the sprite pack: Settings > Misc > Download full sprite pack (~600 MB).
Second screen problems
Turn it off with Settings > Misc > Second screen: OFF. If PKForge opens on the lower screen, it moves itself to the main one.
Sending logs
When something breaks, logs let us see what happened:
- Settings > Misc > Share logs.
- PKForge builds one zip (
pkforge-logs-<date>.zip) with recent activity, the last crash reports, your device model and Android version, and the last scan report. It contains no save files, but the scan report inside lists your save file names and trainer names. - Share it to us on Discord with a few words on what you were doing.
